post reading activity 4: Be the First


Be the First
Aim(s)
  • Students are able to the interpret the themes of the story.
  • Students are able to relate the themes with the moral values of the story.
Times: 40 minutes 

Materials: worksheet 1

Steps:
1. Divide students into smaller group.
2. Teacher will provide the students the strips that contain particular events of the story.
3. A student will be chose to be the moderator of the game.
4. The chairman will read the strips. Each group who want to guess the theme needs to say "Black Beauty" loudly. The first group will get a chance to answer it. Marks are given by the convincing evidence that they give.
5. Any group that gets highest mark will be the winner of the game.

Worksheet 1

1.    Mr.Blomefield’s children rode Merrylegs like she was a steam engine.

2. James, the stable boy saved the horses live during the fire.

3. Although Black Beauty is tired, he raced back as fast as he could to the doctor in order to save his mistress life, Mrs. Gordon.

4. Black Beauty needs to pull heavy loads through bad winter.

5. The groom who ruins Beauty’s knees was drunk when he caused the calamity.

6. John sympathy that the horses will suffer from the use of checkrein.

7. Max and Black Beauty willing to bear the painful of wearing checkrein since they do not have a choice and need to follow the lady order.
